#migrationstories

Michel Bouvet born 1955 in Tunis, is a French designer and poster artist. He is professor of visual culture at ESAG Penninghen (Paris)
His design influences include Fernand Léger, Raymond Savignac, André François and Roman Cieslewicz. His posters are very often the result of a mixture of techniques (photography, collage, sculpture, painting), which gives them a highly poetic graphic dimension.
In 2014, was conducted the workshop entitled "migration stories" with artist Michel Bouvet at the Politecnico of Milano, in order to express
in different ways the Worldwide Immigration
situation, interesting project that even though time pass, the issue of remain and is always present in our everyday day, it is clear,
Immigration seems to be more  on headlines in the recent years. As the world globalizes in terms of nations’ economies, trade and investment, borders are opened up more easily for “freer” flow of goods and products but what about humans?
Lets now talk about Xenophobia, a Xenophobic  is "a person who is fearful or contemptuous of that which is foreign, especially of strangers or of people from different countries or cultures
and desire to eliminate its presence to secure a presumed purity"  but if this concept is correct and it is just a fear, why this  word is always connected to hate? there are millions of people around the world that suffer hate crimes just because they look different, they talk different or they just dont belong to the culture where they live in. when you talk to a person that have immigrate normaly they discribe their very first days in a new country feeling like an Alien, a been from other planet at the eyes of the others around them.
Workshops are usually conducted in a short time for this reason to make a professional product is often difficult, you learn about the topic which is being discussed and finally through a final project you express what you learned, the idea of showing the immigrants as beings from another planet was
perfectly what we wanted to show, many immigrants feel like "aliens" within a different society, always they have this feeling of being watched by people around them in a different way, a way they don't see every morning when they wake up and stand in front of the mirror.
we decide to use an Anaglyphic technique, with a still picture in which the right component of the composite image usually red in color is superposed on the left component in a contrasting color to produce a three-dimensional effect when viewed through correspondingly colored filters in the form of spectacles.

in this case we use only the technique with red, where first is clearly show a face that resembles a "alien" with the message "not an alien" then when the filter is placed in front of the poster it is discover the hidden message, the face of the alien turn into the face of a human being,  a person, just like other with the message "just a immigrant".

"when the cellophane viewer is placed in front of the poster, the hidden message is discovered, the "alien"  face turn into a human faces & the message changes from "not an Alien" to just an immigrant."

This was a school project, the result was satisfactory, despite the difficulty in its realization, the use of convensionales impresar create great difficulty to optener a clear visivo effect, the experiment was done successfully, we offer a poster It offered two messages that could be clearly displayed.

"the objective was clear, to show the social stigma that many immigrants suffer and raise awareness in the viewer mind, the immigrant is a person, a human being like any other, to born or come from another country or culture does not make you less human, we are certainly different but in the end we are all human."
